YOUNG HEARTS

DO YOU KNOW YOUR TALENT?

“Talent is not to be seen only in terms of being performers, superstars singers or hotshot players, but as abilities that make you unique. For example, you can be a good reader, organizer or be good at math.”
Ben Carson
Renowned Neurosurgeon

John Hopkins Medical Institutions

Talent is an unusual natural ability to do something well. Everyone has this ability but not everyone is using it. Many people don’t use their talents because they don’t realize they have it. I have talked with some who confess they don’t know their talents. God put a gift; a talent, an ability to do something in every man. He did not create anyone without this unique ability to do something.
Some know this truth but still are not able to recognize what their talents are.
Some use them without realizing they are gifts from God
Some know they have talents; they recognize them, but ignore them.
Only very few people recognize their talents and use them appropriately.
To what category do you belong to?

HOW DO YOU SEE LIFE?

“Your opinion about life determines your attitude and approach to it.”             Dr David Oyedepo

Many see life as a funfair where they can do anything that catches their fancy. Many more see it as a game of luck or chance. Some others see it as a playing field where only the fittest and strongest survive. But, very few see life as an opportunity for valuable service to man and the society.
What you put into life is what it gives you back. That is the law of God put in place since creation.

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.” Genesis 1:11

If you read this scripture further, you will see that God had put a seed in everything He created. Seeds are to be multiplied. You have a seed of greatness in you; before it can multiply, it has to be planted.
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7
So what seeds are you sowing?
If you sow the seeds of idleness, you will reap poverty.
If you sow the seeds of slander and gossip, you will reap strive.
If you waste your time when you are young, you will have a miserable old age.
If you play around instead of learning a skill or getting educated, you will suffer in future.

Life is all about seed sowing and reaping. It multiplies back to you what you put into it.

What seeds are you sowing today?

DISCOVER YOURSELF
Many people are walking corpses, roaming the earth without knowing who they are.

Ask yourself these questions:
1.      Who am I?
2.     Why am I here?
3.     What do I have in me? ( Gifts, Talents and Abilities)
4.    What am I to use them for?
Try answering these questions.

I have found out, in my years of teaching and counseling, that many do not have these answers. That is why successful people are much fewer than the unsuccessful.
Until you discover yourself, you cannot uncover your destiny. The best thing you can do for yourself in your youthful season is to know who you are. No one can do it for you; it is a personal responsibility.
No one knows who you are
Only God can tell you who you are
Only you can find out from Him who you are
You lose your personal identity by letting people tell you who you are or by imitating others.
Go to your maker and let Him show you who you are and why He created you, it is only then you can move on to the future on the right path.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11

DEVELOP YOURSELF

The next step you must take after discovering yourself is developing yourself. This you must do in your youthful season. It is very good to go to school, but that does not equal self-development. Many passed through expensive schools but the schools did not pass through them.Have you not seen first class graduates who are derelicts; professors who cannot afford to feed their families and retired professionals who are living in abject poverty?
I usually say, “It is not education but ‘selfducation’”
You have to ‘self educate’ yourself to fit into the demands of your environment.
One good way to develop yourself in this financially challenging times is to acquire a skill. My grandmother used to say, “a person that can work with his hands cannot suffer hunger.” Paper qualification is good, but if you have a skill, you cannot be stranded.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; Ecclesiastes 9:10
Apostle Paul was a learned person. Acts 22:3 He attended the best school of his days and became a teacher of the law but he was also a tent maker. When he became an evangelist, he had to survive by making tents with other Christians. Acts 18:1-3
What would have happened if he did not learn that skill?
He would have ended up a nuisance or a beggar.
Here is his testimony:
“I have never wanted anyone’s money or clothes. You know how I have worked with my own hands to make a living for myself and my friends. By everything I did, I showed how you should work to help everyone who is weak. Remember that our Lord Jesus said, “More blessings come from giving than from receiving.” Acts 20:33-35

What can you do with your hands?
